1. Introduction
Welcome to MJ-Tech's PDFs ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected through our website (https://mj-tech.me) and our related services (collectively, the "Services").
By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access or use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
2.1. Information You Provide to Us
- Uploaded Documents: When you upload a PDF document for signing or preparation, the document itself is transmitted to our servers for processing.
- Signature Data: Information you provide to create your electronic signature, such as your typed name, drawn signature, or initials.
- Email Addresses: If you use the "Prepare for Recipient" feature, we collect the recipient's email address to send them the signing invitation and your email address (if provided by you) for notifications.
- Contact Information (Indirectly): If you contact us directly for support or inquiries, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide. (This is typically through a separate contact mechanism, not the core signing tool).
2.2. Information We Collect Automatically
When you access or use our Services, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of the Services. This information may include:
- Log and Usage Data: Our servers automatically collect log files when you access our Services, which may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring/exit pages, pages viewed, date/time stamps, and clickstream data. This information is used for service administration, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of our Services.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We currently do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes within the core PDF signing tool. If this changes, this policy will be updated. Standard session management might occur for service functionality.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:
- To provide, operate, and maintain our Services, including processing your PDF documents for e-signature.
- To facilitate the document signing process between you and other parties (if using the "Prepare for Recipient" feature).
- To send you service-related communications, such as notifications about document status (e.g., when a document is signed).
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- To monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve our Services.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and to protect the security and integrity of our Services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information or your documents.
We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Signing Parties: If you prepare a document for a recipient, the recipient will see the document and any fields you've placed for them. Similarly, if you are a recipient, the sender may be notified upon your signing and receive a copy of the signed document.
- Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as email delivery services or server hosting. These providers are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us. (You would need to list these if applicable, e.g., SMTP provider for emails).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Services, protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public, or protect against legal liability.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your uploaded PDF documents and any associated signature data only as long as necessary to provide the Services and for a limited period thereafter for operational purposes. Currently:
- Original PDF documents uploaded and their finalized signed versions are subject to automatic deletion from our active servers **7 days** after they are last processed or accessed for signing.
- Associated metadata and field information stored in our system (e.g., in Redis) may also be subject to similar retention periods or will expire based on set TTLs (Time-To-Live).
You understand that after this retention period, your documents and associated data may be irretrievably deleted.
6. Security of Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information and documents. This includes using HTTPS for data transmission. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of your personal information. If you wish to exercise any ofthese rights, please contact us using the contact information provided below. (Note: As a no-account service, "accessing" or "correcting" stored data is limited by the data we hold, which is primarily tied to temporary document processing).
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR. For users in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold as required by applicable law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
